Mark
Jones
Mark
Lehi (aka, Buckethead) Jones was born naked and illiterate
at an early
age into a family of musicians in a very small Southern Utah
town. Forced piano lessons starting in kindergarten didn't
bode well with the energetic, spasmodic
youth. Ritalin was not available then, but hours and hours
of jumping on the trampoline must have properly rearranged
his brain cells and imparted a sense of rhythm to the budding
musician.
Starting
with the cello, then the electric and upright bass, holding
down the low end was his passion for many years - until the
movie O' Brother, Where Art Thou came out and awakened a dormant
intrigue for a form of music that the formerly high brow,
jazz and
classically trained musician could not resist. Immediately
after hearing the Soggy Bottom Boys' rendition of Man of
Constant Sorrow, Mark went out and bought a
banjo, put down the bass, and started the journey of 10,000
hours of practice to attempt to master this new instrument.
Mark's
musical passions include, among many, singing with Rut and
Joey to create the signature Deja Blue vocal sound, and
pushing the boundaries of what type of music can be played
on bluegrass instruments.
